Customer Service
Now more than ever, you need to stand out as a business, and one way of doing this is having outstanding customer service. Loyal and happy customers have a significant impact on strengthening your business. The pillars of excellent customer service are not to be overlooked.
You can have the best product on the market, but you will find it very difficult to get repeat custom if your customer service is lacking. Too many businesses have fallen prey to this oversight, so don’t let it happen to yours. These simple steps will help you deliver outstanding customer service.
Listen actively and carefully
Listen to your clients and their needs and try to go above and beyond their expectations. This means don’t just nod your head and say, “uh-huh.” Take notes and relay back to them what they are looking for. Make suggestions that will improve upon their original needs.
Getting to know your ideal client and their business will ensure you can tailor your products/services to their needs. Use customer experience to gain customer loyalty. The more you get to know your customers and vice versa, the more you will understand what they want and what they need.
Customer Service and Empathy
When a customer has an issue, it is important to empathize with their situation. Put yourself in their position and how it would make you feel if the person dealing with you showed they didn’t care.
Having empathy for your customer’s issue will also help you understand what you need to do to help them, directly or indirectly. If you cannot assist them at that moment, let them know you will find someone else who can. Even if you have to transfer their issue to someone else, follow up with them, it will show that you actually care about them.
Self-Control
Dealing with challenging and demanding clients is one of the most trying aspects of customer service.
When a customer comes at you already upset, it is very difficult to remain calm yourself.
This is where your patience is being tested. Try to leave your emotions out of it and put your impartial business hat on – difficult to do, but it will ensure you get a fair outcome for you and your client. Try to solve their problem without blame and above all don’t make promises you can’t keep. Manage your client’s expectations by being realistic.
Confidentiality
This is a must in any business – show your clients that you really care about them by having robust policies in place to ensure you are protecting their business interests and remaining GDPR compliant. Know Your Product
When a client is coming to you for your product, you need to know all you can offer them. They will have many questions as to why they should even use your company for their needs. You need to have all the answers before they even step in the door. If you don’t, they will probably move on even if you have a superior product.
This means knowing your customer’s product as well, and how you can maximize their experience in dealing with your business. Do research on your customer. Nowadays, most companies have a tonne of information about themselves available on social media. Learn how to use it to your advantage.
Collect client data and arm yourself with as much information as you can. This will allow you to customize your service for your clients and enhance their experience.
If you are in doubt about the power that customer service has in a business, think about what you do before dealing with a new company. You go online and check out their reviews, how they performed, and what people rated them. And you most certainly do not choose a company with bad customer service.
