Over the last few years, we have noticed that September is usually busier than other times of the year – the September rush. This is probably because people come back fresh from their holidays or because they have had the time over the summer to think about new ventures.

Taking time out over the summer is always good for your mind. But it also helps from a business sense because you can face your business with a fresh head.

It’s our favourite times of the year as we get to hear about everyone’s plans and how they come to life. We have been in business for four years and are still working with those initial startups we helped get started.

But why September? Keep reading to find out why September is the new January.

Why is there a September rush?

Twice a year, we notice a big boom in the industry. In January, people feel the most motivated, trying to stick to their New Year’s Resolutions and start the year right. And while January is pretty obvious for people to get all hyped-up, why the September rush?

Summer is over

Summer is always a good time to take a moment and rewire your brain for success. With the end of summer drawing near, people who have taken long holidays feel they need to get back on track as soon as possible.

They say, “The end of something is the beginning of something new”, so entrepreneurs and young startups look forward to returning to work with new business ideas, ready to take on the world.

Back to school

Kids going back to school means daily routine is returning to normal. And people love routines (even though we don’t want to admit it). While some of you may have created a perfect work-life balance, for others, having the kids at home the entire summer season can be pretty exhausting.

If summer felt too long, the back-to-school mentality will set you back on the right track.

It is normal to feel the need to get back in shape (work-wise) after well-deserved downtime. That is what summer is for: to slow down, enjoy, relax and reflect, so when September comes, you can start work full speed.

Peak hiring season

Many businesses are gearing up for September because it’s the peak hiring season. It is also the time of the year with a significant increase in job vacancies. For businesses, this means that the competition is high, so they have to do all they can to stand out from their competitors and win over the best candidates for their business.

In addition to being a peak hiring month, September is also the month for customer growth. So this is the right time to work on your marketing, pull in new customers and boost your business.

Productivity season

People peak at high productivity during the autumn season. The reason changing seasons impact our capability and productivity can be backed up with prehistoric data. Namely, the survival of our ancestors depended on the autumnal harvest, which is why we associate this season with productivity.

September is a fruitful month, and the need to boost your business is genetically predetermined. There is no escaping it!

Final thoughts

Don’t let the September blues beat you down. This is the right time to take things into your hands and jump into the new business venture you were making plans for the entire summer.
